A speaker's style is simply the unique way in which the information is delivered to the audience. Here are a few styles a speaker will use: A content-rich speaker speaks in facts significant to the audience.


Components of Language

  • Phonology. Understanding and pronouncing speech SOUNDS.
  • Semantics. Understanding the MEANING of words and word combinations.
  • Grammar. SYNTAX, rules for putting words together.
  • Morphology. Use of GRAMMATICAL MARKERS that change meaning (s, ed, ing)
  • Social linguistic knowledge. Turn-taking (sucking and pausing)
  • Pragmatics.


Language style is defined as the choice of words used by a specific group of people when they speak. An example of language style is bureaucratise, the words, jargon and abbreviations which are used by the government. Besides the criteria, language has three aspects such as grammar, meaning and sounds. Style refers to the writer's choice of diction, sentence structure, literary techniques, and use of rhythm. Tone, on the other hand, refers to the writer's attitude toward his/her story and to the reader. The writer's tone assists in creating a mood or atmosphere for the story.


Vivid is an adjective that describes a bold and bright color, an intense feeling, or an image in your mind that is so clear you can almost touch it. Sometimes you have a vivid dream that feels so real that even when you wake up, you can't tell if the dream is really over. Vivid is a child's imagination. Licensed from iStockPhoto. adjective. Vivid language means language that describes something very vividly, bring an actual image into the person's head. Words can be either boring, or exciting. Visual, or technical. To speak vividly you have to evoke imagines in a person's mind.
