What is Artificial intelligence (AI)? What is the primary goal of AI? How AI is related to Expert Systems?

Artificial intelligence means provide the ability of think, Sense, decision making to machines. As we are aware even 3 years child brain is better than a fastest complex machine. But with the help of AI we can instruct machine what to do on any question or situation. Simple example of this is chess game. In chess if we are playiing with computer then computer uses it's AI to responde on our move. so we can say that AI  is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable.

The primary goal of AI is to provide the thinking capability of the machine without humna iteraction. Scientists are doing research on AI so that machine can take care of theirself just like movie iRobot. The overall research goal of artificial intelligence is to create technology that allows computers and machines to function in an intelligent manner. The general problem of simulating (or creating) intelligence has been broken down into sub-problems. These consist of particular traits or capabilities that researchers expect an intelligent system to display. The traits described below have received the most attention

AI is very important for Expert System ES. ES can behave like human brain with the help of AI.  artificial intelligence, an expert system is a computer system that emulates the decision-making ability of a human expert. In ES we will provide many knowledge database to the system. Now with the help of AI ES will decide which information is related to current situation.
