Sex is based on the biological organs one possesses thus, either considered to be a male or female. However, there were roles that were assigned to each sex such as, the men were expected to perform certain roles of providing, protecting and working outside the home while the women were expected to stay at home, take care of the children, cook etc. Thus, this social construction assigned the roles and set certain expectation people should perform depending on their biological sex.
Gender on the other hand was assigned to the biological sex which promoted only two genders such as, male and female. However, as societies progressed and more stress on the individual rights came on the surface, people started expressing their sexual preferences not based on their biological sex. This gave rise to many sexual preferences such as the LGBTQ apart from the traditional male-female sexual preferences.
