National debt is basically when government budget is coming out to be in deficit for constant years . Then that continuous deficit turns out to be debt .

According to John Tamny , he says that national debt is a long run phenomina , national debt doesn't harm the economy in short run but in long run and for future generations it is a dangerous for the economy and country too . The burden of these debt have to be faced by future generations .

Moreover he added that large increase of debt would compell the government also to rise the taxes which will also be bear by people of the country in the future.
