To formulate a PICO question on falls in a hospital setting one
should consider the following points:
The PICO format allows the nurse to ask questions that are tottaly focussed on the intervention. Inappropriately formed questions may bedue to irrelevant sources of information.
Furthermore It is not advised to study irrelevant hundreds of articles. So focus and read the best four to six articles that specifically address the question regarding the falls in the hospital setting.
Thus the more focused the question asked, the easier it will become to search for evidence in the scientific literature.
The aim is to ask a PICO question is that it contains as many of the possible PICO elements.
Finally when it is seen thatthe evidence is not strong enough to apply in such above practices, or in the case of the limited resources, it is advised to conduct a pilot study to formulate the PICO question.
