PICOT format is used in Evidence based practice.P -Population,I-Intervention,C-Comparison,O-Outcome,T-Time.PICOT question is of 4 main types .They are Etiology,Diagnosis,Meaning,Prognosis and Intervention.

Etiology related PICOT question are questions related to cause of the disease.

Diagnosis -questions related to the process of understanding the cause of the underlying illness through evaluation

Meaning-are questions based on how we experience a particular phenomenon

Prediction-otherwise known as prognosis,are questions regarding the prediction of the disease

Here we are going to take the PICOT Question type Prognosis and the question is based onprognosis of hypertension a well known risk factor for the development and rupture of cerebral aneurysms. ie Subarachnoid haemorrage(SAH)

The Question in the PICOT format will be -In patients who have experienced SAH (P) how does being a hypertensive raises mortality and morbidity rates(I) compared to non hypertensives(C) influence the risk of developing SAH(O)during 3years(T)?
