Integrity can be described as a congruence (match) between what we think, say and do in our personal lives and our professional lives. It is indicative of honesty, moral strength, and courage. The concept of "core values" can be described as those values that guide our behaviors and serve as a vision for our life. As noted in this week's course material: "When you are able to identify your core values, you have a clear picture of the kind of person you want to be and the kind of life you want to have".
This week's topic challenges us to gain greater clarity and awareness of our personal values and how they align with our career and life choices. For this week's discussion board, please review the 10 Core Values of Zappos Company Culture (Week 5: Required Resources) and pick two of the Zappos core values that resonate with your own personal values. Discuss why you picked those two and how they could play out in the workplace.
Next, provide two examples of how your selected core values can support ethical behavior in the workplace.
Ten core value of zappos company are as follow:-
1) pursue growth and learning
2) Do more with lesss
3) Passionate and determined
4) Humble
5) To build open and honest relationship with communication
6) Embrace and drive change
7) Deliver WOW through service
8) Being adventurous creative and open minded
9) To build a positive team and family spirit
10) Create fun and little weirdness
So out of these significant 10 values those 2 values which resonate with me the most are
1) Embrace and drive changes- If we as a part of organisation are not prepared to deal with constant changes, then probably we are not good fit for the conpany. I always try to learn not only to not fear tchange, but to embrace it enthusiastically so for that i always plan for and be prepared for constant change. This drives original thinking,challenges the common wisdom,increases our confidence leading to easy adaption to our new environment .
For example: If there is a new process for which i am chosen at my workplace than being comfortable with my old process can make me hesitant for change but if I don't fear and think it as an opportunity to learn and grow and give my best in it. I probably would be excited and willing to go into that process
2) Be adventurous,creative and open minded-we should always be seeking adventurous and having fun exploring new possibilities. By having the freedom to be creative in our solutions, we end up making our own luck. We approach situations and challenges with an open mind.And we never want to become complacent and accept the status quo just because that's the way things have always been done. So for that I always try to think even bigger and never get disappointed by my rejections as we learn from failure and unlock our hidden potential
My selected value of being creative,open minded and adventurous will help the company grow. And in process i will also be growing. For instance- if i am assigned a project work i will try to think differently about the project then other team members. Instead of focussing on immediate concern alone,I will also think about the end product of the project before it is completed. There is a balancing act involved in a big picture thinking. Immediate concerns need to be resolved but not at an expense of time or money that will negatively affect the final project completion.
