  • Selecting a topic is probably one of the most difficult steps. This step involves finding asnwers to the questions.
  • Some historians consider availability of sources,especially primary or unpublished sources to be the most difficult and determining factor while selecting a topic.
  • While selecting a subject,the researcher can also gather information from other historians but the difficulty involved is the willingness of the historians to provide information.
  • Finding information about the topic is the most time consuming step in the research process. It involves going through all the primary and secondary resources including libraries,newspaper articles,meeting other historians,journals etc.
  • Evaluating the research on a regular basis also requires skill as well as writing research paper.
  • Writing skills need to be learned by the researcher before going into research.
  • Historical research or any other kind of research work is not as an easy task because it requires lots of information,skill and knowledge. The interest and the zeal of the researcher is important.
  • When all the information is readily available it might become slightly easy or simple to do the project but a right approach towards culminating the collected data,evaluating it and finally writing it is needed.
