Trust, or lack of trust, is an increasingly important issue in today’s organizations.71 In today’s uncertain environment, leaders need to build, or even rebuild, trust and credibility. Before we can discuss ways leaders can do that, we have to know what trust and credibility are and why they’re so important. The main component of credibility is honesty. Surveys show that honesty is consistently singled out as the number one characteristic of admired leaders. “Honesty is absolutely essential to leadership. If people are going to follow someone willingly, whether it be into battle or into the boardroom, they first want to assure themselves that the person is worthy of their trust.”72 In addition to being honest, credible leaders are competent and inspiring. They are personally able to effectively communicate their confidence and enthusiasm. Thus, followers judge a leader’s credibility in terms of his or her honesty, competence, and ability to inspire.

Review some of the news items in the current environment and share your opinion of both corporate and political leaders and how you perceive their decisions and whether you trust their actions taken to help the citizens during the crisis.

Expert Solution

Solution:

The effective functioning of a democratic society includes social, business, and political interactions largely depend on trust.

Trust is fragile and an elusive resource in many organizations that come handy in making the social building blocks.

Taking news in the current environment and my opinion:

POLITICAL:

* Currently, the world is facing a global pandemic that is COVID19. In the present situation, there is more probability of spreading rumors which will indirectly lead us to mutual distrust and lack of trust credibility.

* Government of every nation is in extreme shock and an environment is created where one can't trust others. this situation is more dangerous than the pandemic itself.

* There is some trust built among some countries in this present situation, for example, the USA trusted a country like India, to send them a drug that is more prominent need of the time (hydroxychloroquine). this gesture shows more trust credibility building and faith over one another.

CORPORATE:

Taking the present situation in a note, many authentic corporate leaders came forward to show the trusted credibility, to show people that they can trust them for example;

Ratan Tata - The CEO of the TATA Trusts is an authentic and classic example of mutual trust between a corporate and the country. TATA trusts donated half of their worth to the country to fight this global pandemic.

- This kind gesture from the corporate side is the backbone for trust's credibility.

* Trusting their action:

Obviously, trust is a fragile bond between two bodies. as per the above-mentioned examples, we can surely say that we can trust both the government and the corporate for their kind gesture of providing trust credibility. we as a citizen should respect this gesture and should come forward to help out them with the mutual process, in this crisis situation.

CONCLUSION:

Trust can be defined and termed as belief that someone or somewhat is reliable, honest. Trust is something integrity, intent, capabilities and results of mutual harmony.

Trusting one in a difficult situation shows more enthusiastic and reliable gesture.

Cyber security is an essential tool for managing risks in today’s increasingly dynamic and capable cyber threat landscape. Yet the market for cyber security remains small, and organizations are making only tactical investments in cyber security measures—one of the reasons why there has been an increase in cyber-attacks. Evidence suggests that this trend will last for some time to come. However, the anticipation of an increasingly open and mobile enterprise should help refocus the spotlight on strategic investments in areas...
