Health reform in Canada has brought with it the liability of newness. That is, it has made health-care organizations risk prone. Identify and briefly describe four risks that have resulted from health reform in Canada. You may answer from a general perspective or from the standpoint of particular health-care organizations.
The Canadian people are aging because of the decline in fertility rate while an increase in life span. So, as a result, more funds should be provided for the elders and the public plans also need to be altered. The government also provides aids and pensions for elders (Old Age Security) and Guaranteed Income Supplement for elders over 65 years with less income. So, health care reform will lead to financial problems sooner than later.
Social and regional inequalities will be another risk. The health system will become uneven as there is a huge distinction in access to healthcare in the regions.
In Canada, there is no public system coverage for all services. So the private expenditure will be more and will not be able to be afforded by the population.
Canada has the lengthiest wait times compared to other countries. Waiting time for the procedure that had taken several months will now increase more by the adoption of new health care reform.
