Quality and Safety Education of Nurses (QSEN) project:
The QSEN project main goal is to prepare Registered Nurses with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to improve the quality and safety of the healthcare systems where they work and it support the safety & quality in the nursing education, and it has to accelerate the user of such competencies, with a clear visibility of the impact. The nurses’ who all are working are needed to be with a contemporary approach towards the quality and safety requirements covering the overall systems thinking as well. In terms of a crucial skill, the process that is carried out in terms of systems thinking results quite helpful for nurses in order to be able to meet & help in the improvement of healthcare as it helps them to move even further from what the QSEN competencies are i.e. even from individual patients, their friends & families in order to get accelerated the overall process of healthcare quality & safety. While implementing the QSEN framework which helps in expanding the focus of nursing not just on an individual but also towards the systems thinking and care of the system.
QSEN defines certain domains for QSEN competencies:

Mentioned below are certain guidelines based on QSEN competencies that can be implemented into our workplace:
Understanding the patient’s needs, preferences and give value their opinions and cater compassionately to them. Document the pain on a simple rating scale easy to follow with the help of both patient and healthcare professionals.
Acquire knowledge and working of health care systems. Use the data generated from such systems to evaluate the outcomes and simultaneously brain storm with other nurses of different ways to improvise upon them.
Develop a good relationship with other nurses by coordinating your work, assisting seniors and learning from them, appreciate efforts by everyone, respect for each opinion and making decisions on a common ground to achieve best health care qualities. Solicit feedback from patients and other nurses to improve your performance.
Reduce the chances of damage or harm (physically or mentally) to the patient. Keep personal hygiene before assisting anybody else. Teach the patient different ways to maintain hygiene.
Look for optimum solutions in health care by blending clinical expertise with desired preferences.
Using the latest advancements and technologies to communicate, share, organize data, minimize errors and build on records for future references. Upgrade ad update your data. Keep confidentiality about the patient’s personal and medical information.
Time is a critical factor here, so providing timely medical help to avoid loss due to delays.
Improve on management skills to have efficient utilization of resources like time, equipment, energy and ideas.
Treat everybody as equal, despite gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and geographical origin.
Keep systemic thinking alive by creating standard operating procedures.
