Name specific exercises that you would recommend, and lay out the approximate number of sets and reps, but now include WHY you chose each exercise for this client. How are these exercises and the way that you teach and present them going to inspire and motivate them to exercise consistently (fun is important) and keep them on the long-term path to a healthy lifestyle change. This group of clients NEEDS inspiration, motivation, fun, and self-efficacy (I CAN do this).
In addition, List 2 aspects to be cautious of, or avoid for your hypothetical client.
Step 1: Describe a hypothetical client that has either CAD, hypertension, or has had a stroke.
A: What hypothetical health issues does the client have?
The client is obese and has type 1 diabetes
B: What is the client's age, gender, and level of fitness? How would you assess their level of fitness, safely?
Male, 45, and low fitness level. To identify his fitness level I would check their 1-minute mile time, check his heart rate and assess his muscular strength lower (wall sits) and upper (push-ups)
C: Propose 3 hypothetical goals for this client, based on their health history (make up a back story).
1. start walking at least 45 minutes a day
2. lose 50 pounds
3. start strength training once a week
- client currently only walks 30 minutes a day, is 350 lbs, and does no strength training.
D: What lifestyle modification advice would you give this client? How are you going to coach them about being active between workouts with you? Avoid giving diabetic clients nutritional advice, they should work with their doctor and/or a registered dietician on this.
- I would tell him to find someone to do walks with him, find an accountability partner. His wife is very involved in his life, so i'd suggest they take this time as "date time" to go on new walks to new parks. I would suggest that they start doing this new fitness and health journey together so he doesn't feel alone. Taking photos of before are also extremely encouraging once he notices his improvements. I would also suggest he does not weigh himself daily, as this is going to take time. Find a type of cardio workout he likes (cycling, swimming, Zumba, HIIT) and do that 2 times a week.
Post the workout for your hypothetical client using the chart below, AND comment and add to AT LEAST 2 classmate's post. This is supposed to be collaborative, so support each other and learn from each other.
Step 2: Fill in the table
Type of exercise | Frequency | Intensity | Time |
Warm Up | Day/wk= | (min) | |
Cardio | Day/wk= | (RPE) | (total min) |
Muscular Endurance | Day/wk= | (lo, mod) | (sets/day) |
Static Stretching | Day/wk= | (lo, mod) | Min per day= |
Cool Down | Day/wk= | (min) |
Step 3:
List 6 exercises that you would recommend for each type of exercise, Cardio, muscular Endurance, and static stretching. Include WHY you chose each exercise for this client and how it will motivate your client. List times and % Aerobic HR Range for cardio exercises, and sets and reps for muscular endurance exercises. Give a general technique tip for each exercise.
Cardiovascular exercise, also known as aerobic exercise, is what helps the heart most. “Cardiovascular exercise works your heart muscle and gets blood and oxygen flowing to your tissues.“It also helps to decrease bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol, as well as decrease blood pressure.”
Aerobic exercise is any exercise that uses large groups of muscles, such as those in your legs, for a sustained period of time. Examples include:
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends that you get 30 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise at least five days a week, or a total of 150 minutes each week. To lower blood pressure and cholesterol, the American Heart Association recommends 40 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity three or four times a week. “Moderate to vigorous” will depend on your overall fitness level, but in general, brisk walking is a moderate activity and jogging is considered vigorous. Do these task with a motivated partner and competete with him on daily basis and enjoy these task because these task can get rid you from medication
A. Client wil have Hypertension and CAD
B. Age- 60 years Gender -male level of fitness
Glycated hemoglobin (A1C) test.
It measures the percentage of blood sugar attached to the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells (hemoglobin). The higher your blood sugar levels, the more hemoglobin you'll have with sugar attached. An A1C level of 6.5 percent or higher on two separate tests indicatesdiabetes
C.D.I would suggest him to do exercises regularly, quit smoking , take sound sleep , do yoga , meditation, take balanced diet rich in dietary fibers, take green leafy vegetables, reduce Alcohol intake
