knowledge in nursing.
1.know-why

3.know-how
Professional and scientific Knowledge is very important in the
field of nursing.
The types of knowledge included in nursing are know that, know why
and know how.
"Know that" knowledge is the propositional knowledge. It is the
idea or assumption that implicates relationship between different
nursing concepts.
"Know how" knowledge is the knowledge of how different skills and
procedures are performed.
"Know why" is the type of knowledge that provides reasoning and
concepts behind why different procedures and skills are performed
in the nursing field.
For eg: nurse "knows that" the patient should be positioned
sideways with head up in chronic obstructive lung disease. The
nurse "knows how" to achieve the position through turning the
patient sideways and using pillows for support. The nurse "know
why" sideways position is comfortable for patients with COPD. She
knows that this will help open the airways so that the patient can
breath easily.
