  1. List the possible genotypes that each parents’ gametes could have. In this problem, it’d be:

Woman:              EH      or      Eh       or     _____       or    ___

Man:                ____     or     ______     or     _____     or     _____

Each gamete should only have exactly one version of each gene. Explain why. On a piece of   scratch paper, draw a Punnett square to help you with your calculations.

EX#3: Martian goat frogs have traits with the following inheritance patterns:

Body color: Green is dominant over white

Eye color: Red is dominant over black

      a) What letters would you use to designate each of these four alleles?

      b) Write all the possible genotypes that may be possessed by a green-bodied, red-eyed

          Martian goat frog.

      c) Chose two of the genotypes you listed in part b, and mate them. What are all of the possible genotypes for the offspring of your cross? On a piece of   scratch paper, draw a Punnett square to help you with your calculations.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans- a)Body color: Green is dominant over white- G for green color and g for white

Eye color: Red is dominant over black - R for red and r for black

Dominant allele is repesent by uppercase letter and recesive allele is respesnted by lowercase letter.

b) all the possible genotypes that may be possessed by a green-bodied, red-eyed Martian goat frog. is-

  • GGRR- all dominant allele
  • GGRr- one recesive allele , as red is domiant over black phenotype will be red.
  • GgRR- one recesive allele , as green is domiant over white phenotype will be green.
  • GgRr- two recesive alleles. phenotype of dominant allele will be formed.

c) Chose two of the genotypes you listed in part b, and mate them.

Let cross- GgRr with GGRR

Parent genotpe- GgRr X GGRR

Phenotype- green-bodied, red-eyed X  green-bodied, red-eyed

Gametes will be- GR, Gr, gR, gr X GR, GR

F1 generation-

Gametes GR GR GR GR
GR GGRR GGRR GGRR GGRR
Gr GGRr GGRr GGRr GGRr
gR GgRR GgRR GgRR GgRR
gr GgRr GgRr GgRr GgRr

All will be- green-bodied, red-eyed

Is it possible that a security with a positive standard deviation of returns could have a beta of zero (excluding T-bills)? Explain. From the CAPM, what is the expected return on such an asset?
