In Fiji there is one diabetic amputation every 12 hours. This is devastating for a country with a population around 1 million. This inspirational talk is by Dr Jone Hawea who is a surgeon and spent many years in this field, and particularly around diabetic amputations.

Over the years it is found that lifestyle changes have led to a huge rise in obesity prevalence. In the video Dr Jone Hawea. Talks about mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness meditation is a mental training practice that teaches you to slow down racing thoughts, let go of negativity, and calm both your mind and body.

Personally after going through some reviews, it was concluded that it is very much a positive thing to start with. According to Dr Jone Hawea the human being is made up of mind, body, and spirit which are influenced by environmental, social, technological, and economic stressors. Worry, fear, anxiety, of the people to be converted into hope. The Dr Jone Hawea observes where your mind went, without judgment, and just return to your breathing is the mantra of the treatment.

The benefits apart it is also observed to bring out the best in the human being. However, pressures on the health-care system are drastically impeding progress in tackling diabetes and its complications. This pressure can come down by implementation of this. A prevalence of peripheral neuropathy, which leads to foot ulcers and chronic foot sepsis, with amputation the only option in advanced cases. The Dr Jone Hawea puts rests and tests the mindfulness meditation to achieve reduction of these cases of diabetic neuropathy.
