Explain the police subculture/culture and state and explain 5 causes.

Police culture can be defined as a set of variables which affects its functioning like gender, social support, custom, norms, crime prevention programs and many other aspects of policemen interactions with social members. Police subculture may be observed in the form of police's attitude, perception, actions, and behavioral approaches towards criminal, society and government authorities. It occurs due to following causes: ( we shall discuss 5 causes here)

1) Personality of Police officers or Policemen: The way police personnel handle the case and laws may be associated to their inherited personality factors. If , they will be taught morality and ethical implications then they utilized the same while dealing with law and order cases.

2) Government policies:

Police forces work as per government's direction and control. They treat situations as per desire of federal or any other forms of government. For example, If , Mr. Trump will wish to forcibly protect the protests at Mexican border then police will definitely take harsh actions.

3) Training and development activities:

If, police will be given training on soft skills, community policing and ethical aspects then they shows the same in day to day operations across the USA.

4) Diversity of Police Forces:

People from various backgrounds in terms of ethnicity, religion, language, skills set etc. come to join a particular police force. It frame their state of minds as diverse one. It brings huge innovation in dealing with crimes.

5) Media reports and appreciation system of police department:

If , media reports praise the activities and steps of police actions then they also commit themselves for establishing the law and order in the country. Police department should have proper mechanism to internally reward the good cause of police forces.
