Please explain the drug interactions of
1. Aspirin and Prednisone why they shouldn't be taken together
2. Esomeprazole and digoxin
3. Metaprolol and salbutamol
DRUG INTERATIONS
ASPIRIN AND PREDINOSONE
Using aspirin togather with prednisone may increase the risks of side effects in the GI tract like inflammation, bleeding, ulceration and perforation (rarely). However, the gastrointestinal perforation is fatal condition which requires immediate medical attention( medical emergency). where the perforation forms all the way of stomach or intestine. In addition to that steroid medication reduces the blood leves of aspirin and such drugs which leads to lesser result of treatment. On the other hand, if a patient was receiving both and predinisone stopped suddenly will lead to higher amount of aspirin in the blood which result in toxicity.A person who receiving both drug should report to doctor if unusaul bleeding is noticed, or other symptoms like dizzeness, lightheadedness, red or black or tarry stools, coughing or vomiting fresh or dried blood, severe headache and weakness.
ESOMEPRAZOLE AND DIGOXIN
Consult doctor before taking both togather.esomeprazole is drug known as proton pump inhibitor which may increase the effects of digoxin .Esomeprezole can occasionally cause an increase in blood level of digoxin. A medical attention is needed if the patient experiance symptoms of excessive digoxin, like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, visaul disturbance like blurred vision, green or yellow vision, fast or abnormal heartbeat. In addition if esomeprazole is taken for longer period your body will develop into condition called hypomagnesemia, or low blood magnesium.Hypomagnesemia can increase the sensitivity of your heart to the effects of digoxin and even cause toxicity. Doctor should check for any symptoms of digixin toxicuty like irregular heart beat , palpitations, muscle spasm, tremors or seizures.
METAPROLOL AND SALBUTAMOL.
Use of SALBUTAMOL ALONG WITH METAPROLOL may reduce the effect of both medications, since they oppose the effects in body.In addition, metaprolol can sometimes cause narrowing of the airways, which may worsen your breathing problems or trigger severe asthmatic attacks. The patient may not be able to use metaprolol if they have frquent ashthma attacks or COPD.doctor may prescribe alternative medications for treatment.Seek medical attension if a patient experiance wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness,or other breathing difficulty.
