Expert Solution

Protein and Amino Acids:

Protein are important and essential nutrient that is required by the body to build muscle tissues and other tissues in the body such as hair and the skin. In our diet we naturally get protein from meat products such as fish, meat, eggs as well as plants products such as soy, nuts, legumes, etc. The protein we consume is broken down into amino acids by the body. On the other hands amino acids are building block of proteins and protein are made up of 22 types of amino acids joining and combined together in long chains to form various proteins.

The protein and amino supplements are the major nutrient supplements consumed widely today especially in performance sports and body building.

Protein Supplements: There are two types of protein supplements such as:

1. Single protein supplements: This type of supplements consist of just one protein type. For example, whey protein, casein, etc.

2. Blended protein supplements:. This type of supplements consist blended variety contain two or more types of protein such as mass gainers.

Amino acid suppliments: There are two types of amino acid supplements such as:

1. Single amino acid supplements. This type of supplements consist of specific single amino acids, like leucine, methionine, etc

2. Blended amino acid supplements. This type of supplements consist of containing more than one amino acid, these supplements are available in numerous forms like branched amino acid formulas and intra workouts or essential amino acid supplements.

These supplements are to be used by hard-core athletes, body builders to train intensely or have issues with recovery. They are helpful in muscle building with proper diet and regular exercise and in case of weight loss a nutritionist can recommend the supplement based on through medical assessment.

“Protein A” is phosphorylated at one amino acid by a kinase, “protein B”, and dephosphorylated by a phosphatase, “protein C”. You have purified all three of these proteins and want to determine the structural changes that occur when protein A is phosphorylated or dephosphorylated. Explain in detail how you would go about designing and conducting this investigation.
