explain how healthcare decisions and practices at a local level relate to health and healthcare delivery on global scale
Public health is the critical part of the broader concepts of health systems and it is the activities the society collectively do to ensure the health of the populations. The main objectives of public health are to facilitate the health outcomes of the populations through the achievement of goals like preventing disease and the health consequences of environmental hazards, promoting health behaviours to reduce the communicable and non-communicable diseases, assurance of public access to quality healthcare. CDC established a Center for Global Health (CGH) in 2010 in the view that domestic and global health are indivisible and the health of the citizens cannot be protected in isolation from the rest of the world.
CDC participates in globalized actions to protect the health of the American people and others with the aim of more healthy, stable and prosperous societies.
The strong partnership of local and global healthcare agencies are essential to meet the challenges in the healthcare worldwide. Innovations and researchers based on the local needs should be utilized to strengthen the local health care decision and the successful one can be utilized worldwide, example EBPs. To work in partnerships to build up a global health capacity, facilitate global health security, and obtain improved global health impact are the fundamental approaches.
The improvement and involvement of local health system like building a laboratory network, improvement in surveillance capabilities, use of health information systems, development of service delivery models, and strengthen workforce capabilities have the great impact on the global health system. Every disease originates in the local area and if it can be tracked down at that level, the disease spread can be minimized. The key concept of prevention also begins and flourishes in the primary health care.
CDC’s global health mission is to protect and revamp health globally by the effective collaboration of science, policy, partnership, and evidence-based public health actions. The objectives can be obtained by leveraging its core technical strengths and partnerships. No single agency or country can work alone to achieve the maximum level of health. The global health objectives are shared and the basic systems should work hand in hand.
The local healthcare decisions are the basic unit in global healthcare decisions. They are the foreground for taking effective healthcare decisions globally. The individual, society and family are the basic units in the healthcare. So every healthcare decision taken on them will impact the entire health care world.
