Read the following scenario describing a research project, and then write a short criticism of this project. You should clearly identify at least four aspects of the project which you believe are incorrect or poor. These may relate to the research question, the experimental design, the analysis and reporting, and/or any ethical or academic misconduct issues. For each criticism which you identify, clearly describe the problem and state how it should have been addressed to improve the quality of the research.

A company providing on-line teaching software claims that students who are on-line
students achieve better results on learning programming languages than on campus students. The company has developed a hypothesis based on this claim. The company chose one university to conduct research to test this hypothesis. It applied for research ethics clearance and at the same time included both on-line and on campus students to participate in this experiment.
At the end of semester, all students undertook the same test on programming languages. The company used final scores of all students to test its hypothesis. The company has published a report in which it concludes “the average score of 67 for on-line students is higher than the average score of 65.5 for on campus students, and so we can conclude that on-line students achieve better results in learning programming languages than on campus students. Therefore, this teaching method should be used for all students in future.”

INTRODUCTION:

The following article is in the analytical format. The aim of the article is to point out various pos and cons in order to improve the research based analysis on the online teaching systems V/s regular classroom study.

I partially disagree with the claim of the company that students who opt for on-line teaching achieve better results on learning programming languages than on campus students who opt for regular class room study program.we are well aware of the fact that every student has a different calibre and understanding of the subject and offline studying ensures that every student is paying attention on the course. However, computer programming in a far more practical field the students should not be ignored for performing sub optimally.

On a teacher's notes the working pattern of a teacher becomes more focused and centralised on student's performance which is not possible with greater degree in online teaching. Before the teacher attempts to modify a child’s error and doubts of the subject, the teacher needs to try and identify the reason behind the latter. For instance, children who switch from structured coding format to object oriented coding format may face many sensitive problems while working on a new syntax. These minute problems are easily encountered by teachers present at your disposal on daily basis.

To prove its point the company does a research on a university student which is in itself an ambiguous step.On the basis of general analysis The quality of students not only depend on the university they are studying but also on the demography and various other factors. The company must include all the interdependent factors that affect the academic. For instance, the students of highly esteemed institution in an urban setup are more efficient as compared to students of university in a remote area.If the company does research on a single university neglecting other factors ,the research is considered incomplete.

Further the evaluation method of the company is unsatisfactory. Its concludes on the basis of average marks obtained by the students in online exam. If we analyse the number of students appearing in online courses is far more greater the the students in a specific university. Thus adding an undue advantage on the average marks of the students applying for online exams.further more the student of the university are habitual to appear for offline mode of examination.
