  • Describe the ecological, economic, and social challenges that can arise when considering a species reintroduction. Note that “social” in this context refers to human societies. The term “ecological” should be used to refer to intra-species or inter-species interactions that don’t include humans.

Solutions

Expert Solution

species reintroduction is basically introducing a species into an wild, from other areas or captivity where the organism is capable of living. challenges that will be faced are

ecological challenge will be inter and intra species interaction as it can be fatal for the other species as the species which is reintroduced can cause serious harm to already existing species and thus can cause their survival tough. moreover due to less availabilty of resources there can be intra species stress and can be bad for their own survival

economic challenge is that a lot of money and time is invested by the conservationist and there is no guarantee of success. there can be unpredicted challenges such as droughts, floods, diseases which can cause this investment a waste.

social challenges are challenges to human societies. as species reintroduction can increase the species invasion in a particular area and there is ongoing conflict between those who are against conservation and those that are not. it is the humans who cause scarcity of species and then reintroduce them for their own benefit.

The invasive diatom species Didymosphenia geminata has the potential to inflict substantial ecological and economic damage in rivers. An article described an investigation of colonization behavior. One aspect of particular interest was whether y = colony density was related to x = rock surface area. The article contained a scatterplot and summary of a regression analysis. Because ecological disruption can put native species in contact with humans and livestock, it is believed that an increased number of threatened species in an area leads to a greater risk of novel disease transmission.
