The Dean of the Albers School of Business has an Advisory Board that evaluates the Dean’s performance each year. What two specific performance measures would you suggest to be used to determine the Dean’s performance? Explain your choices.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer - The measures to determine the Dean's performance :-

1.) Progress in achieving the school’s goals in education, research, service, and clinical activities.
Under this, present outcomes (in terms of achievements and financials) will be compared with past outcomes and as per the criteria, evaluation will be done. Average score of the students, Teacher's efficiency rate and other such measures will be calculated to make the comparison.

2.) Recruitment, development, mentoring, and retention of department chair, administrative leaders, and staff of the school.
Under this, Teacher's turnover rate, student's retention rate and other staff retention rates will be used. The overall efficiency of entire school will be calculated and compared with past data to find the increase/decrease which will ultimately describe the performance of the dean. His management capability will also be analysed through this.
