All internet works in the OSI model where in the data transfer from layer to layer and to give you the desired output or in the networking language it is called desired destination.

The OSI model comprise of :

Physical Layer (layer 1): The Physical layer transfers the data into the bits through a transmission medium.

Data Link layer (layer 2) : It describes the format of data in the network so that it can pass the information to the Network layer.

Network Layer (layer 3) : The network layer is responsible that the packets has to move in which direction and it will go according to the information provided by the data link layer.

Transport layer (layer 4): Transport layer is responsible to transmit data using the data protocols using TCP and UDP. Both the TCP and the UDP works in different port number so that it can listen respectively.

Session layer (layer 5): Session layer has the responsibility to maintain the connection between the ports and the machine , so that it can continue to bring the session up and monitor the same.

Presentation layer(layer 6) : Presentation Layer responsible for the data usuable and it should encrypt the data where it is necessary.

Application layer (layer 7) : Application is the last layer where the user can see the user interface in laymen terms it can be said as GUI.

Now, from the ages the OSI model is helpful for communicating from one device to another. The reason why the model is so versatile you can see the data forwarding at every layer and every layer is responsible for their functions.

For any device whatever is the requirement the OSI model provides that functinality on the layer.

Technologies that did not existed 40 years ago and we are using it now:

Wifi : Wifi is the technology that is not existed a way back , people has to use the Hubs and the Repeators to transmit the signals.

GPS : Global positioning system it is one of the technology which we are rigourously using now a days and without these technology we cannot step out.

GPS sends the signal to the satellites and so it helps to give the details.
