In the Connect and Develop article, Huston and Sakkab describe a "radical strategy of open innovation." Let's assume that Dell is interested in pursuing such as strategy. What would that look like? If you were a member of the management team, would you have any concerns?

Expert Solution

If Dell is interested in pursuing the strategy “radical strategy of open innovation”, then it would look as a great strategy. The reason is that Dell just assembles the products for order fulfillment. Though the Dell computers are custom made based on customer orders, it does not any form of innovation in its product lines like that of Apple Inc. Dell is one of the leading computer manufacturers and I believe that a radical strategy of open innovation would help the company to be in par with the technological trends.

If I was a member of the management team, my concern would be about change management. Implementing the open innovation strategy across the company is a disruption to the traditional practice and there would be change resistance from the employees. There should be effective change management to ensure that this strategy is accepted by all employees and leaders in the organization to have great innovation in future.

Note- If you like the answer, please provide an up-vote as it would be quite encouraging for me. Thank you.
