Need to write an essay for this topic: " Describe a personal challenge you faced or a situtaiton that you found to be particularly difficult. How did you overcome this obstacle and what did you gain from the experience? ( At least 350 words)
Answer:
One of close my friend was suffering from anxiety. He was very confident and outward person but suddenly I started to feel some changes in his behaviour. Slowly, his behaviour started to get worse. so one day I chose to talk to him. First he was reluctant to tell me anything, later he opened up. Then I came to know he was suffering from anxiety.
He had a constent fear of death from heart attack. Once he had acid burn. Due to that, he started to feel discomfort and pain in his chest. He checked internet and most of the internet sites had his symptoms categorized in the section of heart complications. He got very worried and got a constant fear of death from heart attack. He told me that he was not able to concentrate on anything. He was not able to sleep, eat or even talk to anyone. When he used to be alone, he used to cry and be constantly anxious. Even a slight pain in the chest used to make him go crazy. Even in the company of people, he used to feel alone and worried.
I felt that life in such a situation is very diffcult. He can't even share his thoughts to anyone as they will mock him. Though, he went to doctors, they were not able to help him. I felt that, his brain was distroying him even though he was physically fit. I felt that, people who are suffering from mental illness needs more care and understanding from the society.
When I heard his story, I was very worried. I asked him to follow an approach. I asked him to get himself checked for heart disease. Though he was against the idea in the beginning, He gave in after some persuation. There was no problem with his heart. I made it sure that he totally accept the report. Once he was convinced, his brain took sometime to heal itself. He was fine after a month.
From this experience I learned that, no physical boundaries can limit your abilities. But you, yourself can cause immense damage to your potentials through our brain. Brain is the most powerful organ of our body. It helps to control our day-to-day life, but it can also cause self-destruction. That's why, we should regulate the informations we put in our system.
This friend of mine was no-one but I, myself.
