You have been asked whether your organization should expand from selling its products only in North America to selling its products in Europe as well. What information would you want to collect? Who would you want to discuss the idea with before making a decisio
I think the most important factor of
consideration for me would be to examine whether my Organization
would resort to selling of standardized products, as in case of the
home country, or would the products have to undergo certain
customization to improve its acceptance in the sub-continents of
Europe. I would also like to avail the information regarding the
flexibility of business operations in Europe and determine the
impact of cultural differences between these countries, so that
steps of promotions could be undertaken accordingly in the host
country. In addition, there could be few factors pertaining to the
market considerations as well such as whether our products would be
suitable to the target audience of the host country and if there
are any substitutes or similar products already available in such
markets.
Before making any decision, I would like to discuss this idea with our management, and if possible, we can call for a general meeting of shareholders to discuss on a wider scale, the proposition with them, to gauge their points of views as well upon this front. I would also discuss with one or two local established businessmen of the host country so that, I get a primary picture of feasibility of our business venture into their country.
