What effect has technology had on the U.S. and global economies? Have these effects been positive or negative?

Technology has had the effect of increasing productivity. Increasing productivity helps grow gross domestic product per capita at an increasing rate which increases incomes and the standard of living in the various countries. So, yes, it has had a favorable, positive impact.

Many people believe that the government should regulate business with respect to privacy online, but companies say self-regulation is more appropriate. Which approach would most benefit consumers most? Business?

The approach that benefits consumers most is self- regulation.

Online privacy should be self regulated by companies that have that information on their data bases, if the government was the one who controlled this information it would be to dangerous because is too much date and personal information from people that hackers can get.

Lately, there has been many cyber attacks to the government cyber space and those hackers could your personal information.

Companies that store your personal information have high security data bases and they keep track of ay kind of attacks.

Also, each person needs to investigate the web site where they are sharing their information, they need to make sure security is a priority, if the site looks suspecious and is asking your for credit card numbers or information that you do not share then dont do it.

There are websties like Amazon or ebay that you can know can trust because it has been proven to not been a scam but a new type of business which is online shopping.

Intellectual property refers to the ownership of an idea or a creative material, such as inventions, artistic or literary work, and commercial designs.

Intellectual property can be protected from unauthorized use by legally registering them as the owner’s property in the following ways:

Patents:

They provide ownership rights for inventions.

For example: Machinery, Drugs, or a Product’s feature.

Copyrights:

They protect works of art, authorship and entertainment material, such as music, books, films, video games, and computer software.

Trademarks:

They protect symbols, names, words, colors, or sounds that provide a unique identity to a good or a service and distinguish it from the other products.
