When you looking for the anxiety levels in males and females and are running a t test for two categorical variables what type of T test would you run?
How do you write the Ho and Ha when the question asks if there is a significant difference in the means?
I could suggest using an independent t-test. The independent-samples t-test (or independent t-test, for short) compares the means between two unrelated groups on the same continuous, dependent variable.
Assumption of the test are:
1) Your dependent variable should be measured on a continuous scale (i.e., it is measured at the interval or ratio level).
2) Your independent variable should consist of two categorical, independent groups.
Now, here the anxiety level is the dependent variable which should be measured on a continuous scale. And male & female are two independent or categorical variables.
Hypothesis:
Ho: There is no significant difference in the means of two population(i.e Males & Females)
Ha: There is a significant difference between the means of two population(i.e Males & Females)
Conclusion:
Reject the null hypothesis Ho if P-value is less than the level of significance at 5%
