Explain how to prepare the following in a chemical lab:
Prepare a set of four standards in 2mL sample vials:
1-0% biodiesel, 2-10% biodiesel, 3-20% biodiesel, 4-30% biodiesel in diesel by volume. After the standards are made in the correct ratios, dilute them to 1/20th of their original concentration in octane.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:-

For 1-0 % of the biodiesel solution we have to dissolve 20 microlite of Biodiesel in the vial and make up the volume to 2ml.

For diluting it to 1 / 20th of original concentration in octane we have to take 1 part of the 1% solution and 19 part of the octane that will gives 1 / 20th dilution of it.

For 2-10%if we are taking the upper limit i.e 10% 0.2ml of Biodiesel in the vial and make up the volume to 2ml.

For diluting it to 1 / 20th of original concentration in octane we have to take 1 part of the 10% solution and 19 part of the octane that will gives 1 / 20th dilution of it.

For 3-20%if we are taking the upper limit i.e 20% 0.4ml of Biodiesel in the vial and make up the volume to 2ml.

For diluting it to 1 / 20th of original concentration in octane we have to take 1 part of the 20% solution and 19 part of the octane that will gives 1 / 20th dilution of it.

For 4-30%if we are taking the upper limit i.e 30% 0.6ml of Biodiesel in the vial and make up the volume to 2ml.

For diluting it to 1 / 20th of original concentration in octane we have to take 1 part of the 30% solution and 19 part of the octane that will gives 1 / 20th dilution of it.
