A code of conduct is a document which clearly defines how an employee should behave in the organisation at work on a day-to-day basis.
If i were the in charge of an organisation, following are the things which i would include in code of conduct:
1. Attendance and punctuality: Employees will be expected to be regular and punctual in attendance.
2. Anti- Bribery : employees will be expected to perform their duties legally and honestly.
3. Absence without notice: Employees are expected to inform in prior in case of emergency leave which will allow the company to make other suitable arrangements so that the ongoing work is not stopped.
4. General and sexual harrassment: Any remark on the basis of race, religion, gender, ethnicity or any other legally protected thing will not be tolerated.
In case of non complaince with the above mentioned things i.e not following the code of conduct will have adverse effect on the employee's job. If an employee disobeys these values once, he/she would be given an opportunity to be heard and present his/her case. If the employee is found to be guilty, then measures can be taken to make sure he/she does not repeat.
One day salary cut can be a punishment in case of not adhering to point no. 1 and 3.
More stringent punishment like suspension from the job is required in case of point no. 2 and 4.
