Fewer people are going to hospitals- due to high-tech and growing workforce in the healthcare industry, patients are getting in touch with medical providers remotely by phone or online video service. this is especially used by those far from accessing quality medical professionals. patients are seeking medical services from wherever they are, from home, workplace or any other location at their comfort.
High technology is also improving healthcare analysis and diagnosis. additionally, digital and remote pharmacy solutions are now common and they have virtualized pharmacy and patients are reached wherever they are. some services that have emerged include home delivery, remote monitoring, telehealth, mobile application among others.
Growing workforce- the healthcare industry has now shifted its focus to more specialized care, prevention and treatment, population health and low-cost methods.
Involving workers in the change plan. the best way to make people adapt to new ways is to include them in creating the change strategy. this will make them feel like the strategy is theirs and they will own it and be accountable to move forward successfully.
Acknowledging losses openly- change can come with losses in roles or valued team members but with empathy, listening and telling people that you understand their frustrations and losses makes them feel that you value their feelings. when they find that you care about them, they tend to come closer to you and as a result, more likely to change with less or no resistance.
Setting expectations that change is inevitable- as a manager, you should try to often communicate the vision of the company as dynamic and evolving where progress and change are inevitable. this will keep workers prepared that change can happen any time and will prevent them from staying into complacency or assuming they are in a static company.
Embracing the change cycle- change starts with feelings of loss, then doubt, discomfort, then discovery, understanding and finally integration. when a change is announced, there are those who can go through this process in a few hours, others days and other months. as a manager you should accept that this process varies among workers and for those stuck in doubt, discomfort or any other stage, you should reach out to them individually, try to understand them and find ways to unstuck them.
Current issue:
Pressure in implementing new technologies. it causes headaches when it comes to implementing new technologies as these technologies may have come at a very high cost and there is pressure to get them up and running as quickly as possible. this can even cause more problems to the workers as some get frustrated with this pressure and it might even lead to failure. to combat this issue, the switching process to the new technologies should begin weeks or months ahead of time. multiple training sessions should be carried out to ensure that everyone familiarizes themselves with the new technologies long before they start using them in the intended tasks. everyone will be ready to work with such technologies and it reduces frustrations caused by pressure.
