Do we perceive the world as it is or are we easily fooled? Give an example from your own life. At least 250 WORD
The word 'Perception' simply means, the interpretation of something or the way we understand something. Perception is inconsistent. The way people think are dependent on how they want to see the world. It all depends on the point of reference from we look upon the same incident. Perception is something we sense. The consistent part with perception is its difference. People see the world in the way they like or their perceptions are sometimes influenced by other factors. An incident can be either seen as it is or manipulated and viewed in a twisted way. But most of the time we, ourselves manipulate these actual happenings so as to make ourselves feel comfortable in that story that we create. The past experiences also mold our perception. To elaborate, I have got a perfect example of a friend of mine, she was a popular girl in college.
From the viewpoint of most of the people, she was adorable, friendly, and highly intelligent. She has her ways of influencing people with reasons and her subtle arguments. We all saw a good leader in her. I saw her talking to the most hated girl in class with compassion, then my likeliness for this girl multiplied one hundred fold. Thus we automatically conditioned her name with warmness and kind behavior. This was the general perception of this girl. This was before we realized there were the shades of grey in her white cloak. This generalization about someone can also act as a cloak of invisibility when it comes to reality. There times she brings her other side to the world, which was purely selfish, we ignored that fact whenever it pops up. This way of perception on the world, with a preconceived belief system, can alter the reality that we live in. When she turned her back on us completely, we started analyzing what happened. We gave her too much credit than she actually deserves. At the same time, there was another person, that we did not acknowledge, she was not popular and not too friendly. It turns out when time in need this girl helped us get through. The perception of the world is a lie. We do not see the world as it is most of the time. We see the world the way we want to see, and not as it should be. Perception is subtle misdirection. It's like doing magic, we are misdirected from seeing things that are actually happening. The magician asks us to closely observe at one hand holding the coin and do the tricks with the other, and when the trick is complete we are amazed when the coin disappears. The brain, like electricity, follows the path of least resistance, that we interpret the data in the least resistant way. Interpreting the data, or incident takes time and energy. So when we see and we assume. These assumptions are sometimes so twisted from the real happening. So aren't we all living a fool's life at some point or the other?!
