Bioethics deals with issues that arise related to medical advances. For many people, bioethical issues are particularly sensitive and highly personal issues. This may be true for you on a personal level as well. Remember that, as a medical assistant, you must remain nonjudgmental at all times regarding patient healthcare dilemmas and decisions.
Choose one of the following two bioethics issues to discuss: Stem Cell Research, Cloning. .
This Project should be submitted in a 2-page document (minimum 6 paragraphs). Make sure to include citations of your research sources in your submission.
Cloning is the process of superior breeding of animals that is used to produce healthy offsprings. Its very advantageous to farmers, consumers and endangered species.cloning helps farmers to increase the production of productive ones and thus helps us in getting safe and nutritious food.Dolly the sheep was the first mammal that was cloned.
The major benefit of cloning is being able to create tissues and organs that are beneficial to the original animals or man.Human cloning, makes it possible to resolve fertility issues.
Laws allows cloning for biomedical research but doesn't allow freezing the embryos or destroying it.Its considered unethical. The cloning is used in humans to make stemcells from embryos and use it to make heart muscles or other organs, but it destroys defective genes.
It can be used to treat a variety of diseases like heart problems, diabetes and spinal cord injuries. Scientists are also in the process of removing stem cells from embryos and growing cell lines from them to use in the treatment of diseases.
Cons of cloning
Most of the animals related to cloning has birth defects in major organs Kidney, liver, heart and brain. They also have problems like large size, premature ageing.
Cloning has many ethical concerns. One is regarding creation and destruction of one to four year old embryos and the other is woman donating eggs for cloning after taking informed consent unethically or not.
