Explain how Mr Ken’s cardiovascular condition would put him at risk of having left-side heart failure.
Left side heart failure occur mainly because of coronary artery disease and hyper tension. The left side heart is responsible for pumping blood to the rest of the body in people with left side heart failure blood back up to the lungs as the heart does not effectively pump it away, this issue can make shortness of breath and fluid build up.
The coronary artery supply heart muscle with blood if this become blocked or narrowed the flow of blood reduces and the heart does not receive the blood supply that it needs.Coronary artery disease is caused by plaque build up in the wall of the arteries that supply blood to the heart called coronary arteries.Plaque is made up of cholestrol deposits.Plaque build up causes the inside of the arteries to narrow over time. This process is called artherosclerosis.
Hypertension
Hypertension is the other major cause which leads to left heart failure.Hypertension make left ventricular hypertrophy because of continues high blood pressure.Left ventricular hypertrophy is a thicking of the herat muscle that result in less effective muscle relaxation between heart beats,so heartt cannot pump blood effectively which leads to left ventricular heart failure.
