ANS) 1) PREVENTIVE PATROL- Also called as STRATEGIC PATROL. IT is a form of police service that attempts to eliminate opportunity for misconduct. It involves walking / driving around the area and keeping a look out for potential problems. Its purpose is to increase police presence in areas of expected crime in order to act as a deterrent.The main ai behind this is to prevent crime rate. IT is often adopted as a measure of community caretaking functions that include to reduce the opportunities for the commission of some crimes.OBJECTIVES ARE- Prevents crime, Security Development, Apprehension of criminals.
2) REACTIIVE PATROL- This Police Patrol is based on citizens,its a policy of responding only when called upon by citizens. proactive patrol is a strategy of actively reaching out to interact with and influence citizen behavior.Its main objective is to serve to the citizens.
3) PROACTIVE PATROL- It is based on community policing.It emphasizes on street crime that can be reduced through larger involvement of communities.The partnership between the both community and police must be great to prevent and counter crime, reduced the fear of crime,and to maintain order between them. Police must feel integrated with the majority of the citizens of community where they patrol, and that they perceive themselves as sharing similar values and beliefs and ethics so that they are confident in their decision making ability.
4) RANDOM PATROL- Random patrols are police patrols who appear unexpectedly in certain areas, usually business or commercial areas, to provide sudden but visible surveillance at unpredictable hours.Their main law enforcement weapon is the element of surprise. For example, if a business has broken into many times, a random patrol officer may visit that particular building unexpectedly throughout her shift to stop criminals or to catch them in the act.
