  1. A very well-known author, Dan Green was visiting a friend to talk about topics for a new book. The friend, Mr. Snoop said that he had been at a party when he heard about something called the Da Vinci Code. Mr. Snoop told Green all about the Da Vinci Code. Green was very excited and rushed to his office. Over the next two days, Green wrote a book called the La Vinci Code. After the book was released to stores around the country, Green sold all rights to BS Studio. BS Studio made a TV movie from the book, which changed the location setting from Paris to Fullerton and changed the character names.Discuss all legal issues

Solutions

Expert Solution

1. The author of the book Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown can sue and take legal actions against Dan Green because firstly he named the book La Vinci Code which was similar to the original book name Da Vinci Code. Also the contents of the book would have to be analysed and in case if the contents are found similar to Da Vinci Code, then further legal action has to be taken against Dan Green by Dan Brown.

2. Legal action for sellimg rights of book to BS Studio would be taken against the author since the original book author should be given all such rights and this book is a copy of the original one and Dan Green has stole idea from the original book only, hence he must be sued.

3. BS Studio would be sued since they copied the original idea of the story and just changed the location from Paris to Fullerton and also changed the character names, thereby stealing the idea and copying all the contents of the book into the movie.
