Topic is Spirulina.
Spirulina is a micro-algae and as such has been growing naturally in our environment for millions of years, it is a tough plant able to withstand harsh growing conditions, in fact the micro-algae cell never really dies it goes dormant when weather conditions are not favourable, and as soon as these change and the environment is once again suitable for growth, spirulina begins growing and reproducing again. Naturally growing spirulina can be found in high alkaline lakes and in general it is said that where flamingos are, spirulina is sure to be found.

Spirulina is not a mass consumer product. It is a niche product catering to a unique market profile. My target audience for Spirulina will be health conscious well educated, middle age and older consumers belonging to the mid to high income category. Professionals working in corporates would be the ideal customers. According to a recent survey carried out by the International Food Information Council and the American Heart Association, people in the age group of 45-54 and 25-34, seems to be the most health conscious. Around half of them have either a college degree or a graduate.
The best ways to communicate with my target market would be focussed promotional activities and advertising in health magazines, gyms and health related websites. I will partner with local gyms and health clubs to promote my product. Certain health magazines that are focussed towards the above targeted age group have a substantial readership. Advertising in these magazines can help generate brand awareness and publicity.
