Spirulina is a micro-algae and as such has been growing naturally in our environment for millions of years, it is a tough plant able to withstand harsh growing conditions, in fact the micro-algae cell never really dies it goes dormant when weather conditions are not favorable, and as soon as these change and the environment is once again suitable for growth, spirulina begins growing and reproducing again. Naturally growing spirulina can be found in high alkaline lakes and in general it is said that where flamingos are, spirulina is sure to be found. It is a type of cyanobacteria, which is a family of single-celled microbes that are often referred to as blue-green algae. Just like plants, cyanobacteria can produce energy from sunlight via a process called photosynthesis.

Since it is enriched with various antioxidants and nutrients, it is beneficial to the brain and the body.

There are mainly two common forms of spirulina which are available commercially which include powder and tablets. Spirulina powder is taken by mixing it with water or with any kind of drink. As it is good to the body but also hold some kind of side effects. Consumption of spirulina in excess can cause conditions such as headache, muscle pain, sweating, insomnia and some allergic reactions. Spirulina should not be used by those people who is having allergies to seafood and some kind of sea vegetables.

Since spirulina and its related products hold anti viral properties, it would be beneficial to use it against corona virus disease as this special algae holds power to get into action at an early stage of infection for reducing virus yields in the cells and improving the survival as well.
