What is psychodynamic perspective?
100 word limit.
Psychodynamic perspective refers to view in which the primary focus is on the unconscious thoughts and emotions. According to this view, childhood experiences play an important role in shaping adult personality. This perspective provides an insight into how the individual views his relationships, experiences, and the life in general which in turn has a bearing on his choices and behaviors. This perspective owes its origin to the work of Sigmund Freud. Later on Adler, Erikson, and Jung also followed the psychodynamic approach in their work. This perspective tries to explain the illogical actions taken by us. Freud believed that much of our behavior is determined by the psychological forces. This interplay is happening in the unconscious part of the mind and of which we are largely unaware. For example, a childhood event that caused fear in a space that was high up may trigger acrophobia (Fear of Heights) in an adult.
