There is a theory named as Psychoanalytic theory. It was was given by Freud. It says that personality of a person gets developed through the exposures to various conflicts. These conflicts help in development of Id, Ego and superego of a person.
There is another theory by the name of cognitive development theory. It was given by Piaget. It says that development of intelligence play an important role in personality development. A person goes through various stages of life and experience different aspects of life. All these causes a person to acquire different types of knowledge which ultimately helps in personality development.
Another theory is known as the "System Theory". It was given by Darwin. It says that biological aspects remain associated with personality development. Genes shapes the personality of a person. Environmental factors also keep an important emphasis on personality development.
It is also a fact that that no single factor can be held responsible for development of a person. Various factors keep on working at the same time. Both nature and nurture impact the dimensions of personality development. Person keep on learning from his/her surrounding.
His/her conscious and unconscious mind keep on observing each and every aspects in his/.her surroundings. Various experiences are gained through a long course of life span. All these constitutes several parts of our personality. These factors combine and have an influential impact in overall development of a person.
