In what ways did slavery and the Atlantic system impact African society? How did Africans respond to European intrusion and the slave trade?
slavery and the Atlantic system impact African society very much because Africans were transported to the European countries as slaves in order to fulfil the demand for labour.in comparison to European people African people was much vulnerable and scientifically backward. Hence, they fail to defend themselves from the European people. They were migrated to in European country Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Portuguese, Great Britain etc.
The main reason behind this slavery was that White people or people of European lineage believed that they were superior to the people of other descent.
But the concept of race plays an important role in justifying discrimination.
According to it, only white people are men. Therefore, they are created equal but people of other descent like black, yellow, red, and brown are inferior. Hence, the phrase like, all men are created equal, not applicable to them.
This argument helps to give justification for the cruel acts like racial discrimination and violence.
Even in the 21st century, there are around 27 million people are facing slavery across the globe. This book raises the issues of human trafficking and slavery still present in the modern age.
It shows how slavery is present from underdeveloped countries to developed countries like the U.S and European countries. slaves are found as sex workers, domestic servants, sweatshop workers, chattel slaves, migrant slaves, mine workers etc.
