The three different types of public relations tools that organizations could use to generate interest in their products are
1)Social Media - Having a social media campaigns is one of the cheapest ways to reach the masses. Social media campaigns are popular with youngsters and reach a lot of masses.
2)Seminars/Webinars- A company can hold a seminar or a webinar to interact with consumers and influencers and promote their product. Having an endorsement from industry veterans and critics can enhance the brand image in the eyes of the public and generate interests.
3)Sponsorship- Sponsoring a major sports event or popular tv shows and using the advertising mediums can generate a lot of publicity for the products.
Risks of social media promotion are
1)Wrong campaign- A wrong social media campaign can lead to a backlash from consumers and the public and will result in brand image taking a hit. For eg. A racially negative campaign can backfire.
2)Security risks- Social media campaigns pose a security risk as hackers can take over accounts of businesses.
3)No standards for social media usage-organizations forget to put standards for social media interactions which can cause damage due to unauthorized interactions
4)Viral Negative comments- Negative comments about products and service can cause adverse impact to brands.
