Describe three different tools used to collect and analyze kinematic data and three different tools used to collect and analyze kinetic data and provide the strengths and weaknesses of each tool (6 total; 3 for kinematics and 3 for kinetics). Include both high tech and low tech examples.
The different tools that may be used for the collection and analysis of kinematic data are:
1. Another people : An analyst can take help of other people in the cases where multiple measurments are to be recorded from a single experiment. Major shortcoming for this is, that all people may not necessarily agree on the same value. There may be some descrepancy due to their different opinions.
2. A camera : A camera which can record the video of the kinematic experiment may be very helpful. Same thinkg can be observed multiple number of times with help of this. Major disadvantage is that if someone knows he/she is being recorded, the person may become consious.
3. Use of reflective joint markers: They are placed in front of the cameras having infrared light rings so that they can capture high-contrast images and videos. These reflectors allow for the joints to be focused on for the images to observe how these joints are actually moving. Weakness for using this method is that multiple cameras are needed due to the typical planar human motion.
The different tools that may be used for the collection and analysis of kinematic data are:
1. Force platforms: They transduce ground reaction forces in vertical, lateral, and anterposterior directions with respect to the platform itself.
2. Pressure platforms: These are able to collect data in the outside environment but lack the precision of the buit-in platforms as in case of force platforms.
