Answer 1-
As an airport manager, (a) which type of gate usage agreement do you feel is most beneficial? (b) Why would you enter into any exclusive-use agreements if they are considered to be an inefficient use of gate space?
(a) As an airport manager, I think best type of gate usage agreement is Shared-use agreement which is also knows as non-exclusive agreements. In this agreement, air carriers share the gate space and schedule the usage of gate in coordination with airport and other air carriers. This is beneficial for the airport as its facilities are efficiently utilized by the airlines and they even retain control over its facilities unlike other agreements.
(b) As airport manager, I would enter into any exclusive-use agreements even if they are considered to be an inefficient use of gate space because the airport will have good revenue stream from this type of lease agreement. These agreements are usually for the long term. Airport can predict the revenues from these agreements in advance and will get the assured revenue for the fixed period of time.
