1. Discuss what is cell theory and why all living things have cells.
2. Discuss how cohesion and adhesion differ or compare.
3. Discuss how cells derived from pre-existing cells.
4. Discuss why does ice float on water? What would happen if ice was able to sink
1.According to the cell theory states:
i) Living things are composed of one or more cells
ii) the cell is the basic unit of life
iii) New cells arise from pre-existing cells.
Cells are the basic structures of living organisms which help to provide structure for the body, in order to take in nutrients from food and carry out important functions.
2.The tendency of two or more different molecules to bond and stick with each other is known as Adhesion, while the force of attraction between the same molecule of a item s is known as Cohesion
3.The existing cells are able to split themselves into two parts. This process there by creates new cells and is termed as cell division . A cell is able to split because everything inside it gets duplicated before cell division as such, new cells can be formed using pre-existing cells.
4.Ice is about 9% less denser than water. Since water is heavier, it causes the displacement of the lighter ice, causing the ice to float to the top.
If ice was heavier than water, whenever it froze, ice would sink to the bottom, and eventually, since the top layer will insulate the ice, causing the entire body or container of water to freeze solid. Lakes, rivers, and even oceans would mfreeze solid.
