Nitro during patch

Route - transdermal

Equipment - no specific equipment

Patient data - the patient should not have chest pain while this patch is being applied. This patch prevent chest pain due to coronary artery disease but doesn't relieve it

  1. Do not apply the patch on inflamed skin
  2. Apply on a relatively hairless area.
  3. Can be applied anywhere below the neck and above the elbow.
  4. Do not shave a body part. Just trim it.
  5. Do not apply in skin areas where there are cuts

Novolog

Route- subcutaneous

Equipment - insulin syringe, a cotton swab soaked in alcohol (for disfection)

Patient data - check the patients blood glucose level with a glucometer. If the reading is less than 70 mg/dl do not give novolog to prevent hypoglycemia.

Lanoxin

Route - oral

Equipment - a glass of water.

Patient data

  1. Avoid giving the tablet in patients with

    2. Avoid in myocarditis
    3. Avoid in acute myocardial infarction
    4. Hypothyroidism
    5. Hyperthyroidism
    6. Hypokalemia

    8. Hypermagesiumia (increase risk of arrhythmia)
    9. Hypoxia
    10. Avoid in hypertrophic subarctic stenosis
    11. Renal failure
