Cystic fibrosis is multi organ dysfunction causes lung dysfunction. Most common death from cystic fibrosis is pulmonary dysfunction. Postural drainage is a type if chest physiotherapy used to treat the children with cystic fibrosis.

Postural drainage utilized the patient position to facilitate the removal of secretion with gravity. In children modified postural drainage position (without head down tilt)are used that do not involve any head down position. Position the patient with the affected lung segment positioned upper most, utilises pillows to maintain patient's position.

Encourage cough or suction to clear airway

Monitor HR, RR and SPO2.

Discontinued postural drainage if tachycardia, dyspnea or hypoxia.
