MECHANISM OF VENTILATION AND PERFUSION

VENTILATION

Ventilation may be defined as the total air we ispire and expire means flow of air into a alveoli and out of the alveoli this total air is called ventilation.

PERFUSION

Perfusion is defined or called as the amount of the blood flows from the alveolar capillaries this is called perfusion.

In Body through the respiration system the ratio of ventilation and perfusion is maintained and adjusted accordingly when the air in form of oxygen goes into the alveoli then after there through the process of perfusion that oxygen goes into the blood and at the same time the co2 from the blood comes into the lungs that we exhale.

This is the mechanism of the ventilation and perfusion..i would also like to give you a short intro of the breathing and normal respiration.

Breathing is the process of the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between external environment and body by the process of inspiration and expiration which is called respiration and this a very important process by which our body survives;

RESPIRATORY system is involved in breathing process and majorly lungs plays a major role in this

Normally as our body's every cell needs oxygen for survival so we inhale oxygen from the environment and these oxygen via lungs expansion goes till alveoli and from there get absorbed into the blood and circulates in whole body and waste carbon dioxide comes into the lungs and thrown out of the body.

This is the normal process of respiration and breathing our body do via respiratory system

So these two process or ventilation and perfusion run accordingly and only there a cause that if there is hyperventilation or the hyper perfusion the ratio is disturbed and then body adjust it by its mechanism.

Total amount of ventilation is calculated with the help of multiplying the tidal volume with the respiratory rate.

And perfusion is the count of the total volume of blood reaching the capillaries in a given or a fixed time..
