The ventilation/perfusion ratio:
a) decreases when ventilation is increased
b) increases due to dialation of the pulmonary arteries
c) increases when blood flow is decreased
d) is lowest at the apex of the lungs
c) Increases when blood flow is decreased
A decrease in the V/Q ratio is produced by either decreasing ventilation or increasing blood flow (without altering the other variable). These will both have the same effect - the alveolar (and therefore arterial) levels of oxygen will decrease and the CO2 will increase
