The application of data analytics has proved to be quite beneficial for the overall service delivery of healthcare. This aspect of data analytics is also referred to as healthcare analytics and is being preferred by various physicians and healthcare providers. A very beneficial usage of data analytics in healthcare segment is by predicting the risk associated with the ailment of the patient. Every healthcare maintains medical history of patients in EHR. Data analytics can be applied to the medical records of the patients in the EHR. Data like age, weight, vitals, previous ailments are analyzed to assess the risk and criticality of the disease, currently the patient is suffering from. Based on the risk and criticality involved, the physicians and the healthcare provider can decide upon the line of action to be followed for the patient’s treatment. If the risk is too severe and the healthcare does not have the capability to handle the same, the patient can be transferred to a specialized healthcare unit. All these efforts help in increasing the probability of survival of the critical patient. This application of data analytics in healthcare has proved to be a boon for the overall healthcare service delivery.
